Is huge probably, but would have never represented Brazil if he wasn’t in a conflict with the Norwegian institution over sponsorships and image rights. Not a cinderella story as much as a story about money.

I wrote a comment on the article as well, but please revisit the confederation cup of 2005. That might be the closest thing to Brazil 1970 we’ve ever gotten. Just a bundle of fun. If you need convincing, just watch the goals from the final.

They were probably busy playing football

I will happily sit through 16 rounds of group stage for the final 5 minutes of that match

And it did in the best possible fashion

You're right, and you're also on a mad reply-streak on twitter. I don't want to drive traffic there, but I'm incredibly entertained. Keep it up

Txiki uten Pep? Wilcox?

Stop it. I’m playing him ahead of Dubravka

Firmino as the number 9 in 2018 instead of Jesus

Brazil 2018 and 2022 surely?
December 19, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Yes! You can spend at least 5 minutes talking about THAT Nike-advert. It really encapsulates the mood in Liverpool at that time

I’m not going to entertain any nostalgia, the final few years of the old group stages was horrendous. Final season had barely any games with anything riding on them on the final day. There is much to dislike about modern football, but the new format is better than the old imo

Liverpool have lost to Galatasaray twice in the old format, and neither times was it important.

Best account on the internett right now. Sole reason to stay on twitter.

It’s not superiority complex to want the local team to keep playing in their local area. It’s logical.

There is zero value for anyone who loves the game to stage a league game in another country, the only people who wants it are power brokers, and middle managers. They add zero value to the game

Does the bloody name of the teams give any indication as to where the teams belongs and plays their games?

Geography matters a lot, off course it does

I wish someone had said this to me when my father passed away. To be yourself in grief, and not feel like you have to be a certain way.

Not to cause a massive controversy, but those questions were not at a similar difficulty-level.

Pedro isn’t all that. He is below Cunha imo.

Surely the numbers on a bunch if the PSG attackers are on steroids because they play for an insanely attacking team who’s also a lot better and richer than the rest if the league combined? I’m pretty sure Goncalo Ramos isn’t getting anything near what he’s doing for PSG in any Premier League club.

Lovely piece. It could also be written about Pep's Barcelona, who everyone wanted to praise for their press. It was good off course, but it wasn't the defining characteristic. Sometimes one aspect of a team (or player) get's too much coverage because everyone wants to be a connoisseur

Nothing else, just Spurs, Ange, and s relentless mockery of Man Utd

The sheer number of icons and profiles nicely spread out throughout the continent is probably not coming back. As a result the pool of elite players feel smaller these days. It’s probably just that they are collected on a smaller number of teams, which means they can’t all shine
