I'm starting to think that my perfect git pre-commit hook is just `exit 1` so I get reminded to run whatever quality-gates I want manually, and then commit with `--no-verify` when I'm sure all is well.

I really don't like even two seconds of runtime for the hook, and I've seen much slower IRL.
