Maybe because scholars believe Jesus was actually born in the spring, but the date didn't line up with any big pagan festivals the church could appropriate, so they just made up a new date instead.

One of our book carts is named Dolly Carton. She hangs out with Wheelie Nelson and Shelvis Presley.

Skimmed past "fast food murder meeting" and thought you were discussing literary plot development. I was intrigued! 😂

I gave up trying to watch the last World Cup for the same reason. I don't have or want cable and it seems almost impossible to access sports any other way.

There are SO MANY but there are a couple that stand apart as particularly good and/or shocking. Making a Murderer is the best of them all. The Staircase. What Jennifer Did. The Keepers. Amanda Knox. Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso.

Fun fact: the LONGER your family has been in the US, the MORE immigrants in your family tree!

Much of my family has been here since the 1630s. I'm as American as you can get short of being indigenous. I come from literally thousands of immigrants.

I stumbled on the Rice saga in real time and thoroughly enjoyed it. But what's this menswear dude story?!?

I'm about to run a Book Fair for middle schoolers and I've had to set up all the fiddly bits behind the register because they will ALL be stolen if I don't.

Most people use to outgrow this sort of behavior.

Not just writers -- artists too. "I can't pay you but think of the exposure!" And then they'll find their work for sale under somebody else's name...
