You can tell because these people will still be successful (senior reporter!) but still feel animosity that marginalized people also make successes in their own lane (this was the original meaning of "hater")

Every time this bizarre sentiment pops up, no one ever asks if the person spouting the racial slurs is themselves doing any working class solidarity with their behavior. The onus is *always* on the person receiving the racism to turn the other cheek for the good of their "material conditions"

Like the former demands the need to rematch and analyze and watch extra media off to keep track off in an... online communal sense, as opposed to really a direct, focused, A/B story.

The kind of frustratingly vague, clunky but intriguingly energetic method vs. the clean-lined, beginning middle and end rhythm that TV just mastered. It's just a different being, and that's fine, but I will admit I do struggle with it a bit

And as you imply it's such an incredible history and a fascinating sound to track through history (and how open it was to embrace other music influences so readily.) What you call soul-folk I've been calling Black Rock, but yes - it's truly amazing stuff.

Instant follow. I stumbled into listening to a lot of Black artists from the early 70s and had been fascinated by how great and under-explored it is, as well as tricky it is to define it to a genre as well. Isley Bros. in particular were amazing to discover how truly diverse they were!
