Started reading "The Eurasian Century" by Hal Brand. Eye opening for me. His thesis is that the Eurasian land mass has been at the center of hegemonic power struggles in the 20th century. The US better re-awaken to the importance of allies. Peace is possible only from strength.

I'm reading "How Civil Wars Start: And How to Stop Them." The author has studied civil wars around the world. What they might look like. The conditions necessary for them to occur. I fear we're closer than I thought.

I wanted to read some short stories. I asked Claude (AI) to suggest writers and their works. One of them was Carmen Maria Machado who wrote Her Body and Other Parties. So good. Her voice is so strong.

Why does the president alone arbitrarily determine which country will be tariffed? Congress holds the power of the purse. Doesn't it have a say?

@cnn.com Can you guys get someone else besides Scott Jennings to offer the conservative POV? He's awful. We don't need another mouthpiece for the Trump administration. I want to know how conservatives view the world. I'm a Dem who tries to see politics from alternative perspectives.
