The University of Oregon has reopened the two oldest buildings on its Eugene campus, following structural upgrades, including new HVAC systems, disability accommodations, and steel and concrete supports.

University Hall opened in 1876, and Villard Hall opened in 1886.

The troops entering Portland are drawn from a pool of 300 guard members who are either trained as military police or have been certified by the state’s police standards agency. Of those qualified, 166 guard members have already volunteered for service in Portland.
