A quilter, reader and RPG game player. Give me a book or game and a quilt to curl up and I am a happy camper!
Don't knock the skill if it gives you joy!

Mine is always fascinated by math related patterns and wants me to do quilts based on that (like penrose tiles)

This is cool! I've been to the Vaserley museum in France. It was an easily accessible stop off of the freeway and worth the time. It totally had tons of inspiration both in shape and color.

A quilt isn't done until the cat is involved ;) They do seem to be cat magnets, especially while under construction.

The AI called for the cream white as a first choice with the turquoise blue as an alternative choice. Though it strongly preferred the white. The AI agreed with my graphics oriented husband who also had strong feelings, so that is what I did.

It never hurts to ask. Worst case, they say no and you move on. They might even find it useful to highlight community efforts like yours on a website / social media which could have wider impact.

Try different stores - you may find higher discounts in some stores, as they are not all the same.

I saw this quilt in California last year! I thought it was such an interesting use of materials and subject I took multiple pictures!

Impressive! hand quilting an entire quilt top your first time out! I got about six square inches done on a panel before deciding that wasn't for me! I changed to straight lines on domestic . I am only now (25 years later) looking into branching out with some FMQ on domestic. I need practice!

Let me guess, you are making a drunkards path? ;)

I love the colors. With the aspect of the photo and no reference for size, this almost looks like a giant wall mural which is just an amazing idea - I can totally see it covering an entire wall.

I strongly agree. I saw it in San Francisco at least a decade ago. It was wonderful and inspiring!

Maybe you can quilt one? ;)

I'm guessing he either used his bare hands, or maybe some Fiskars!

This looks like the one I learned on as a kid. It was originally my Moms and when she got a brand new Kenmore, it was made available to me to play with using my Moms scraps. I have many good memories of it! It was eventually given up in a garage sale too!

I've actually been eying the Allegro. I like that it has some of the features I enjoy in the Bernina, but with lots of space and a top bobbin.

The top bobbin thing for me is a deal breaker. Front bobbins just make me mega frustrated when using my sewing table or a quilting extension. My first sewing machine was an old 40's singer. I think I'm liking that much more than my bernina right now....

which juki do you use?

Mine were odd....
The top 3:
1. The Grinch stole my inch.
2. The Grinch stole my lesson plan.
3. The Grinch stole my heart (less odd but could be positive or negative depending on if you are a glass half full person or not).

Seems like a great opportunity for a pillow cover!
