West Wing did not create this demented Outlook about politics. It was decades-old when the show aired and it only discussed bipartisanism because there was divided government. Barlet's staffers could be stridently partisan.
I have absolutely no idea how you appeal to a base that's furious and to swing voters who don't follow politics but say they want 'bipartisanship' because they watched the fucking West Wing.
