A bit of a grab bag of interests. Art, comics, politics, movies. I promise nothing, but that's also what I charge.
The long birthday weekend gave me a chance to do more drawing than usual, so here's another I finished up – Contemporary Shadowheart. I absolutely love her in Baldur's Gate 3, but felt like giving her a bit more modern (and slightly goth?) style.

Just a quick rendition of Quorra from Tron: Legacy. There's not a whole lot to say about it – she's just someone I've wanted to draw from a while.

This week's project – A character illustration and icons for Mars on the DnD with dee discord. I put this together in exchange for a generous donation to The Trevor Project, and had a lot of fun doing it. The biggest challenge was making her hair floofy enough.

Corrected this week's project to hopefully have platinum blonde hair: Emma Frost, of X-Men fame. As much as I wanted to put Emma in colors other than white, I couldn't bring myself to do it.

This week's project: The interplanetary thief Ada Lamar, from Beth Revis's “Chaotic Orbits” series of novellas. I just have a weak spot for female protagonists and especially ones who are thieves, so Ada has become one of my favorite characters to follow.

This Leloo from ”The Fifth Element” is the result of a reference pose that didn't quite work out – the placement of the reference's hands (clasped beneath her chin) just didn't translate to the drawing. So instead I gave her a chicken to hold. Because everyone knows Leloo loves her chicken.

An early posting this week — another cel shading piece, this time of Illyana Rasputin, aka Magick of the X-Men. For some reason I just couldn’t get her too not look like a teenager to me. I was aiming for mid-20s or so.

This week I opted for a slightly more formal than usual Laura Kinney. My original intention was to have a nightclub behind her, but it didn't quite work with how I want to do these backgrounds. So instead we get a convenient brick wall with just the tiniest bit of self-aggrandizing graffiti on it.

This week's post -- Major Motoko Kusanagi of Public Security Section 9 hanging out in Tokyo with some coffee to go.

I recently did a character-art-for-map trade, so here's the Drow druid Korelei owned by Kaylinn57 on the D&D with Dee discord. I love trying to bring people's characters to life, so I was all in on this one. And it's even better when they're adorable elves.

This week's piece is another revisit to Harley Quinn in something other than her usual jacket and shorts. I'm experimenting with adding more layers to some of the shading to see whether it adds more depth in a good way. #harleyquinn

I don't often do big expressions, but I found a reference I wanted to try recently and with Jester's simplified design for the upcoming “The Mighty Nein” series being released, I had to give my favorite tiefling another go.

Another summery Starfire for the collection. I started this one intending to only do cel shading, but couldn't resist going all the way. So, here we are. #digitalart

I'm back on my “Superheroes in Civvies” kick, so here's Ororo Munroe taking a summer stroll. I don't usually draw her with the ridiculously long hair, but it just kind of works. I mean, when you can conjure up your own breeze to blow it around dramatically, why wouldn't you wear it like that?

A bit of a follow up to the Jean Grey piece, this time focusing on Kate (Kitty) Pryde. Use cel shading practice as an excuse to use various references for poses and outfits that I've been saving. #xmen

I had a hankering to draw some long legs in high boots, and this casual Jean Grey is the result. I'm still practicing cel shading, and the main lesson of this one seems to be that less is more, a complete 180 from the more is more of my usual rendering. #jeangrey

It seems every year I draw Pixie Girl at least once, so I decided this year's version would also provide a bit of practice in working with shadows. I really like how it turned out, and I'm kind of glad after almost ten years she's finally found a hairstyle she likes enough to keep.

These are the first five I've done, with five more to go. Everyone's generosity has raised a bit over $200 so far, for which I'm incredibly thankful.

This is one of those I wonder whether I should replace my desk lamp with a sunlamp.

Sometimes you just have to roll with inspiration when it hits you. This time it was a post by Ginny Di (www.instagram.com/p/DKSNNAFTcO...) that led me to make this goblin version of her in the appropriate hat.

Two more Dungeons & Dragons characters I drew this week --
Kipwick Aloro Oatburrow Silvertuft, aka Kaos, the halfling conman, and Kressalia, the tiefling ranger and her fox companion Rue (the latter two belong to Kaylinn57 on the D&D with Dee discord server).

My cat can be photogenic when she wants

I played in a one-shot D&D campaign the other week and just had to draw one of the team members – Lemongrass, the firblog celestial druid. I practiced cel shading with her, and really like how it turned out. Also made a tabletop token for her, just for kicks.

I felt like drawing a dark/goth-type elf, so here we are. I know her armor isn't the most practical, but it's all for show anyway. She'd probably be a back-line fighter at most.

The latest result in the Random Superhero Project was Sue Storm, and I decided to go with a cozy casual look for her. For the background photos, I just used some blurred landscape photos I've taken over the years. How do they work with the rest of the drawing? Do they stand out as a diff'nt medium?
