"The president has been decieved". It would be very interesting to know exactly how exact information Putin is receiving from the frontline. Remember seeing a documentary about Chernobyl, and one of Gorbachev's problems was that nobody dared inform him about the situation in detail.

Those who believed that the Milky Way was the entire Universe, how big did they think it was? And was the internal structure discovered at the time? The starts aren't evenly distributed across the sky, so I guess they would think/know that there was some structure?

Interesting that the auroras in this thread are red, while they are normally greenish here (Trondheim, Norway, latitude 63° north). I think I read somewhere that it's because they are at different altitudes in the atmosphere at different latitudes?
