TBH, I watched the first two episodes and thought “Oh, *this* is why normies hate Star Trek.” But I appreciate that these things take time to hit their stride, as with the first season of TNG.

Yeah, when Discovery came out I was resigned that the Star Treks for me concluded in the 90’s and now we’re doing Star Treks for other people. They seem to be having a good time with it, so that’s cool.

And I just fundamentally disagree with the absurd notion that Tisch and Mamdani owe each other nothing. They owe each other the basic respect all human beings owe one another. Mamdani has shown Tisch far more respect than she deserves. Tisch has shown Mamdani less respect than anyone deserves.

She was already a notably poor choice because of her backing of John Chell. Giving her the job in the first place was a massive concession to authoritarians in the NYPD. For Tisch to reward that misplaced gesture of good faith by tacitly condoning her brother’s bigotry is despicable.
