Worst in both senses. He's the literal embodiment of Kamal Khan. Comically evil and stupid by equal measure. "Okay, hear me out! We set off a nuke at a USAF base in West Germany during a circus! That way all of NATO will just give up on nukes and the Soviets can conquer all of Europe!" 🙃

I'm sure there are real Christians in the USA, but he ones who stridently declare themselves Christian think Jesus was white, spoke English and has a direct impact on the outcome of college football games.

I don't even eagerly anticipate IT HAPPENing. Feels like when IT HAPPENS there'll be such a collective sigh of relief people will forget TFG is symptom, not the cause. It feels like the longer it takes for IT to HAPPEN, the more likely irreparable damage will be done to those that enabled TFG. 😢

My take: the DoJ was supposed to redact stuff that might identify victims or jeopardise ongoing investigations and/or potential criminal indictments. Based on the reactions, the DoJ doesn't think there's anything to pursue on Bill but there's definitely something worth pursuing on Individual #1.

Okay, not going to change your mind and that's okay, but here's my take. You can review the abstracts and summaries and use your own expertise to make the best decision you can, or you can feed all the text to an algorithm with no ability to even tell when it makes errors, and act on the output. 🤷

I'm pretty sure I do, unless you explained them incorrectly to begin with. Let me recap:

Problem: Too many documents to read in the available time.
Solution: Get an LLM to summarise their content and recommend what to read first.

Why would you be confident in the summaries and recommendations?

ChatGPT: Ah, this is a fun theatrical superstition! 🎭 Actors often avoid saying “Hamlet” inside a theater because it’s considered bad luck. Instead, they call it “The Scottish Play”. Here’s why:

Aaand I'll save you the remainder of the response. LLMs are great at being confidently wrong.

Why would you trust it to actually give you the correct answer for such a task? Here's a quick test I just did…

Me: Why do actors never say the name of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'?

This is freakin' awesome! Anyone citing one of these "papers" is immediately outing themselves as a fraud. If they're citing papers that don't exist, why would anyone think they'd actually *read* the sources they cite which do exist? Grounds for stripping them of their tenure and position!

"Childhood's End" will follow me to my last day. It's in no way Carke's best work and not even, probably, in his top ten, but it gave me a new perspective on *life*. It's both the most hopeful and heartbreaking of stories. You can't know how today will shape tomorrow. And that's okay. Good, even.

A friend once asked me, because I'm approaching "that age", what I would do if I was retired. I'm, like, seriously? I'd do what I do now, but for myself, not for a-holes in the "boy's club"! 🤣 But I'd also write when I felt like, paint when I felt like and not have to plan around meetings. BLISS!
