Justified or not (most certainly not), there's been a lot of mistrust since COVID towards governments at all levels. Could be fears that sounding the alarm will just drive contrarians towards the danger. Which would be fine if it was just them getting in harm's way, but it affects us all.

I think Ohio lost its potential after the 08 recession. My peers, a very blue group, graduated college and mostly fled the state. Obama's win in 12 and Brown's wins in 12 and 18 were exceptions bolstered by incumbency. Kaptur is holding on by a thread. Everything else since 08 has been blood red.
