Tbf, still better than the situation before the original introduction of micro USB sockets on Android etc phones when every different mobile phone manufacturer had a proprietary charger.

Tbh I'm quite happy with usb-c, even as the situation is far from perfect. The same plug will charge my VR headset, various laptops in the house, iPad, various phones, headphones...
