ultimately these are more people getting fleeced by the same get-rich-quick schemes as the kindle automation stuff. it's the same grifters pushing it after they already did it two+ years ago and the money has run out because the sites have fortified their algorithm against this content.

it can be both shitty that people have decided that they don't value art and also that IP owners can restrict every minute detail of how you engage with their property

and it will not even stop corporations taking your work because as we've seen they are happy to use it and call it scientific data and claim fair use on a mass scale or to simply take it and try to get away with it as much as possible (the thing that comes to mind recently is marathon)

also restrictive IP laws will not majorly affect piracy rates. people did not stop pirating music with the advent of increasingly pesky music DRM features. if people are consuming your media and not paying it the solution can never be to forbid them from doing that because it is already forbidden

i don't think piracy makes you robin hood. i do think that it's important that we collectively do our best to work towards not propping up the systems that support the richest in our society. advocating for intellectual property laws does far more favours to disney and kadokawa than small artists.
