It is true at scale. Many cooperatives are quite large and successful. Eroski is a big one in Spain.

Furthermore, I reject the notion that capitalism “works at scale.” Capitalism is extremely efficient at creating massive concentrations of capital in the hands of fewer and fewer people, and inefficient at almost everything else.

It is largely true at a scale. Large swaths of the economies of Europe and Latin America are organized into cooperative sectors, and because of the incentive structure of system, they are happier, more productive, slower to fire, and more resistant to economic downturns and price shocks.

I appreciate your quasi-civility, but I mean, if that’s what it sounds like to you then I really don’t think you’re engaging seriously with these issues. We don’t have to speculate or repackage. It’s well studied that worker-owned coops outperform their corporate counterparts in ways that matter.

Homie, I’m far more interested in workers owning the full value of their labor and getting autocracy out of their workplaces, but the prompt is what it is.

Lol, the fact that you can’t even see the astronomical hypocrisy of this statement is as telling as anyone needs.

Anyone can create misleading memes, pal. Dgaf.

You are simply betraying your biases here. “Government actions are not capitalist actions.” But every death under communism attributable to both the economic system and the state, depending on whatever you want in the moment. You aren’t seriously engaging with history, or with power systems.
November 24, 2024 at 6:23 PM
Sure, but that is precisely my point, and why I encourage you to broaden your thinking about the political deaths caused directly by capitalist governments. I.e. the scores of U.S. coups and foreign interventions over the last century resulting in millions upon millions “murdered by the state.”

I.E. YOU MEAN SINCE THE REST OF THE NON-FASCIST WEST REFUSED STALIN’S REPEATED ATTEMPTS AT ALLIANCE MAKING AGAINST THE AXIS POWERS BEFORE THE WAR, THUS MAKING STALIN FEEL FORCED TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE GERMANS IN A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE SOVIET UNION OUT OF THE WAR?
November 24, 2024 at 8:50 AM
1. I agree it must be said that no one made the Soviets do that to Poland. I’m not interested in defending every single thing communist governments do. However: 2. Don’t pretend you have the faculties necessary to meaningfully debate the incredibly complex merits of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

And also, lol:

You don’t get to compare deaths under communist projects to “zero” you MUST compare them with deaths under capitalism to compare like with like.

This is cool of you, actually.

Friend, I’m a pro-Ukraine socialist. Yes, this figure is wildly inflated. Not only does it indeed include the German WW2 casualties that, but the figure comes from “The Little Black Book of Communism” and the two historians who wrote it have since admitted to grossly inflating the number.

I mean, I’d go.

Crypto-fascists haven’t abandoned Nazism. Nazism is just far more popular now than at any time since Hitler invaded Poland…
