More broadly, this is a depressing death knell to the idea — already on life support — that U.S. foreign policy cares *at all* about democracy and human rights, in Latin America or elsewhere.

I think it has less to do with this site, but social media more generally. I witness a lack of literacy constantly in my professional life as well, and I see it in people who don't spend time on social media. It's honestly shocking sometimes.
