I'll add (I think this is right but it's been awhile), that at lower level local tourneys they might be expected to be able to present the English text upon request from the opponent (such as by looking it up on their phone). At higher rules enforcement levels I believe the judges do that.

To add, I actually have verbal scripts pre-made for when I need to explain what a ttrpg is to someone new-new. With variations depending on what game they're asking about. In that context I'm certainly *not* going out of my way to explain what a GM is to then say "this doesn't have that" lol

I mean yeah it's not ideal marketing lingo, but 98% of my language use isn't bringing new people into the hobby, and when it is I adjust. Jargon isn't inherently bad, we should use it within contexts where it's the most effective language choice, and not when it's not.

Agreed, it describes a meaningfully different paradigm of play (I've worked on both). After someone says "GMless" my expectation of the game is now much closer to the reality of playing it than it was before.
