I sincerely hope that LNPs get their due someday and aren’t forgotten in the wake of the mRNA vaccine medicine Nobel. They make the whole thing actually work!

Fleischmann died over a decade ago so is ineligible. And anyway, maybe we can let the physicists have that one even though they’re electrochemists 😂

It’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry Eve, and you know what that means - it’s time for the annual survey!

Who will win this year’s chemistry Nobel? Wrong answers only.

If true, this really worries me a lot. It fuels my worst fears that AI tools will drive brain rot by encouraging us to take our hands off the wheel and not worry so much about what’s right or wrong anymore.

I recently visited a PUI where some faculty told me that AI tool use to complete homework is rampant and the students are getting (wrong) info from “studying” with chemistry YouTubers. And then totally failing exams because no homework practice and no studying. Thoughts? Corroboration?

I have to admit, I don’t keep a supply of ginger syrup just lying around most of the time. I’ve already consumed an entire door shelf in the fridge with various syrups, and my wife might kill me if I make any more!

I think a piece of @chemjobber.bsky.social just died on this one 😂

Great lineup and agree re: Barr Hill gin! Sasha Petraske has a nice riff on the Bee’s Knees called The Business (emphasis on the Bizzzz 🐝) that just swaps out the lemon juice for lime juice and is a bit snappier. And of course one should consider the Penicillin when talking about honey cocktails.

Exactly this - I’ve never loved the term but the trait is so unmistakable when you see it in someone. Today is just me just rambling about how I wish I could bottle that up and give it to everyone as a tonic 😂

It’s a path that only you can walk, but that others can show. What can I do to clear the path for you amid a jungle of noise and distractions? Or is the skill itself in seeing the distractions for what they are and turning your mind away from them? These questions keep me awake at night.

I’ve had the privilege to witness this ascendancy in quite a few folks. And while they may not realize it at the time, it forever alters their trajectory through life. They are marked individuals. They bring a singular focus to what they do that unmistakably separates them from their peers.

I think a lot these days, as I come into what’s probably the back ~third (!) of my career, about the importance of creating a culture that actively instills the mindset. One of my greatest joys is watching and helping people lift the shroud from their eyes and take up the drug hunter mantle.
