Yep. And every democrat politician, while vigorously defending Pretti’s right to lawfully carry a gun which he did not take out or use, should put out press releases highlighting Trump’s new pro gun control stance and how they are ready to work with him to pass gun control legislation.

The point is that John and she and perhaps a few of the other candidates are qualified for the job, will represent the district well and NOT be problematic.

lol - not the best picture of him in that thumbnail but if you’re in #NJ11 district, I hope you will take time to learn about him or take an opportunity to meet him at an upcoming event

I think it’s fair to say that Dallas D is much improved after the bye and trade for Williams, Logan. But as far as their play vs Eagles boding well against KC, I wouldn’t be so sure. Eagles offense is predictable and really not very good. KC’s is top 10. This will be much tougher challenge imo

Right. Once you trigger then you have to hold fast. As far as not winning any concessions, that outcome is guaranteed since the Dems always cave first whether in the minority or the majority, it seems.

The turnout was about the economy but it was also clear that voters weren’t punishing Dems for the shutdown. I was going to respond they should’ve at least waited to see how SNAP funding battle played out but @emptywheel.bsky.social made that argument better

Eight Senate Dems Caved, and Caved Too Early - emptywheel
With one more week, Trump would have owned far more of the responsibility for SNAP and flight cutbacks.

I simply don’t get it. Democratic voters turned out in huge numbers last week signaling how strongly they support the party standing firm and united during this shutdown. So they decide to cave??

Perhaps we need the equivalent of a No Kings rally but against our own party to show how angry we are?

I pleaded with Hakeem Jeffries at a fundraiser on exactly this point 18 months before the presidential election and other attendees were nodding vigorously. He said that they hear us and know it’s a problem and it’s going to be different this cycle. It was different. It was worse.
