Case in point: I've been playing the demo of Absolum today, increasingly enjoying it. Thinking a lot of the character designs are cool. And then this character turns up, & I immediately think "oh no, I might have now met them"

Dan's shoulder was bothering me because it was too pointy, so I mended it

I have recently been very taken with a birb character that @stuartgipp.bsky.social invented, & as such have been moved to draw three pieces of fanart of him already.

Also featured in the third piece is another of his new characters, Axoloti. I think they are both neat.

I have now done this puzzle set 5 times. On Lumines II (PSP), Lumines Live! (Xbox 360), Lumines Remastered (twice, on Switch and then PC), and now Lumines Supernova (PS3).

Update: received a response to the above ticket this morning. More or less the response I expected. I do hope the phrase "for now" and the fact they are gathering feedback regarding this leads to a better and fairer solution than what they currently have.

Written the following message to Steam support. Not holding my breath it will go anywhere, but I am resolutely not having this. I urge others to do the same if you can.

Text is as follows: Apparently I now need to provide "age assurance" to access mature or adult content on this platform; the only option given is to add a credit card. I do not have a credit card, nor do I intend on getting one. Furthermore, I have had this account since 2008. I am very clearly over 18, as are many other people with similarly old accounts. This is proof enough of my age, & as per UK legislation is acceptable as a standard of effective age assurance, as you will have long-term data on this account (and many others like it) to verify that this is the case. I implore you to implement this as a method of age assurance as soon as possible, as to not do so would be exceptionally unfair and unreasonable to many users of your platform in the UK.

As per below, any website that allows user interaction or content sharing is impacted by this act, & will be required to implement age verification checks such as which bluesky imminently plan to use, i.e. requiring users to provide photo ID, bank info etc. to all manner of 3rd parties.
Excerpt from the gov.uk page "Online Safety Act explainer" Who the Act applies to The Act’s duties apply to search services and services that allow users to post content online or to interact with each other. This includes a range of websites, apps and other services, including social media services, consumer file cloud storage and sharing sites, video-sharing platforms, online forums, dating services, and online instant messaging services. The Act applies to services even if the companies providing them are outside the UK should they have links to the UK. This includes if the service has a significant number of UK users, if the UK is a target market, or it is capable of being accessed by UK users and there is a material risk of significant harm to such users.

One of my favourite things to do in the earlier MotoGP games from the mid-10s, is to watch the intro movies for the race locations & spot all the random people they filmed who have likely never realised they've been immortalised in a motorcycle racing video game
