In a bio of him it said he painted this in the asylum under the influence of digitalis which would have affected his vision. That this may be more accurate to what he saw than it seems.

The idea that someone who was born to the 'superior' sex would voluntarily want to become someone who is part of the 'lesser' sex flies in the face of chauvanists. They cannot abide.

What I mean by the 'nothing bad could really happen' is that I think a lot of ppl, even those in power, have assumed there is *someone* who will step in and stop the terrible things from happening.
Americans are learning we are just as easily bullied as everyone else and bad shit CAN happen here.

The wanton spread of deadly illness among the population was not what people expected from the head of the National Institues for Health, even when RFK told them that was what he was going to do.
It's incredible to me the level of destruction one disproved article can have on an entire country.

401ks were definitely a thing in the 1990s. I had one as did many, many other people. They replaced retirement packages paid by employers. Ever heard of something called a pension? No? 401k became a thing in 1978 to shift economic risks to individuals instead of employers.

He's a writer who writes things like 'I'm a suburban dad from the LA suburbs'. Enough said.

Aside from all that, retirement healthcare in the US is just great!

The bonus of Advantage plans is they cover more than hospitals and doctor costs, and provide *some* coverage for dentures, glasses, hearing aids and other *minor* things Medicare does not cover.
The bad side is your C plan is run by United Health Care, who will screw you over every chance they get.

and changes every year so you have to choose a new plan every year and hope it covers your meds.
What about Part C? Well, let me tell you about the for-profit side of Medicare, called Advantage. If you choose part C, you are no longer eligible for A,B or D, and your C provider controls everything.

The need for insurance is just the beginning. When you turn 65, or 67, or 68 (it keeps going up) IF you have spent at least ten years working and paying taxes, then you Medicare. Part A for (covered) hospital costs. Part B for (covered) doctor visits. Part D covers some drugs sometimes...

GI Joe and He Man were back to back, so I still hear "And now you know. And knowing is half the battle!" leading into "Back at Castle Grayskull..."

Seems like the whole thing rests on "DEA agent Bryan Ayers agrees when asked whether the side door where Eduardo Flores-Ruiz left went into the public hallway where he was waiting. Flores-Ruiz walked "right past" Ayers, he agrees."
Hard to prove someone walking out in the public hallway was hiding.

I was recently reminded of the second part. There are so many examples of overconfident uniformed rubes that do dumb stuff, the second group is harder to see. People who are actually experts that under-estimate their knowledge and competence because they are aware of all the things they don't know.

I understand, I am in the midst of figuring out the magic age when I can stop. Lots of other people don't see that. It's an impossible situation for everyone.
I've even had someone say to me that it's so sad to see grandmothers working at McDonald's taking kids jobs, and not because they have to.

Depends on the job. I am not young, but the resentment of younger people who see someone in upper management hanging on well past 65 is real and looks like entitlement rather than need. This anger is bolstered when they see wealthy 80 year olds in congress telling them to tighten their belts.
