In October, I wrote about how Trump’s potential presidency could impact reproductive rights in Scotland.

Never did I think it would be as explicit as the US veep spouting fear mongering, nonsensical lies about Scotland’s buffer zones.

www.heraldscotland.com/politics/vie...
The US has us asking: where's Scotland’s reproductive health agenda?
The hot-button issue in the 2024 Presidential election remains sexual and reproductive health, specifically abortion rights. But what about Scotland?

‼️new paper klaxon‼️ An absolutely brilliant thread on this paper & the importance of thinking about what we cede for short-term ‘feminist’ wins- esp. poignant in this particular political moment. It’s also a GREAT thread on persevering through academic bullshittery. Read the thread, read the paper 👇🏾

It would be rude not to point out that this has been framed as:
1. Women presented as frivolous for being concerned about hormonal contraceptives
2. As if abortion is a bad thing

📣Abortion is & always has been (& will be) essential healthcare!

Reliance on fertility apps on rise in England and Wales, study shows
Trend away from hormonal contraception corresponds to rise in abortion rates, say researchers

The genocide in Palestine did not start in 2023, and it will not end with a ceasefire in an apartheid settler colony. Still, I hope it will save some lives.

The fight for true liberation continues — Palestine will be free 🇵🇸

If you're thinking more about what the criminalization of abortion and pregnancy is going to look like moving forward, we invite you to check out this resource and start making the connections between the criminalization of reproductive, sexual and gender-based care and policing and criminalization.
On a teal and yellow gradient background, a white box with black text:

"Resisting the criminalization of reproductive autonomy is a critical site of struggle within a larger landscape of criminalization.

Shifting this terrain requires that we organize across our movements.

Solidarity among anti-criminalization and reproductive justice organizers is essential to dismantle the culture of carcerality and control, and to prevent more laws targeting people existing at precarious intersections of race, gender, sexuality, disability, class and migration."

At the bottom, a white box with the URL bit.ly/DecrimAbortion in black text.

Our article on pain in medication abortion is currently free to read in #BMJSRH. We look at the issues that arise when pain is worse than expected, and the confusion that can come from comparisons with 'period pain'.
