this Street Sign themed DS Kiosk would occasionally be used at various events in Europe, such as the Leipzig Games Convention in 2007. #DataDesign

i don't think it's the "first" specifically, but apparently Watch_Dogs 2 references the Wiki. which is wild considering it's a AAA Ubisoft game.

could be a coincidence, though.

Rock n Roll Adventures originally was titled "Elviz: Rock n Roll Adventure", the back of the final box still gives the main character this name. but it presumably hidden to avoid the wraith of the Presley estate. #DataDesign

this is like when Free Radical Design made concept art for Battlefront FOUR even though they hadn't finished working on 3 yet (which itself was eventually cancelled)

31 seconds of an early (maybe internal? the Rhino Studios logo looks to be an older version) trailer for the PS3 game Afrika.
not sure what happened to the rest of it.

in a document Nintendo provided to developers in preparation for WiiWare, it describes the service's notorious revenue sharing
"👉 6,000 units if >16MB"
"👉 4,000 units if <16MB"
(US)

the requirement of reaching a specific sales target led to NUMEROUS indie devs failing to make a cent. #DataDesign

someone at Heavy Iron Studios was having a SERIOUS issue working on the PS3 version of the Ratatouille game, and sent a ludicrous amount of screenshots documenting the issue to Sony.

12 Years Ago Today

@charliebrooker.bsky.social names Twitter as one of the "most important games ever made" on a Channel 4 special.

(unfortunately, this isn't the only part of the special to have not aged well. 😶)

"We'll assume that you have some content encoded correctly for the platform on which you'd like to use the MoviePlayer (e.g. a PSMF file with a video stream and one or more audio streams created with the tools from the PSP developer's kit ). "

interesting note about Battletoads being added to the NES NSO app.

it seems the Japanese publishing rights to the game have finally reverted to Microsoft, previously it was published by Masaya, which was acquired by "extreme" in 2014.
they were doing their own re-releases for it as recently as 2021

the wording suggests the Overworld theme was already complete actually, and Kondo remixed the track for the intro at the last minute
Punch-Out also used a song that likely WASN'T public domain (the Gillette march)

"it's just an arrangement of music used in the game"
