Okay but what if we take a nap first? He/him (also on mastodon/threads/everywhere)
I hate that I got in the weeds enough in 2020 and 2024 to understand this.

Non-locals: “I guess it makes sense to use an existing base.”

Locals: “Pfffttt Great Lakes?? Really?? That’s a fuckin’ choice…”

The phrase “quo warranto” has been bouncing around in my head for the past two weeks about this whole situation. Idk if it’s on point, but every time I see things Musk/DOGE are doing I ask myself “under what authority?”

Sigh.

You can get pretty granularly custom just using the USGS website at earthquake.usgs.gov/ens but that’s not an app, if you’d prefer that to an email.
Earthquake Notification Service
The Earthquake Notification Service (ENS) is a free service that can send you automated notification emails when earthquakes happen in your area.

My GT alumni ass will always want a different outcome, but I’ve always respected your trash talk because of posts like this. Made me more confident in your work, too. So, thanks.

I do agree with you, though. Never have liked the phrase myself, and not sure it’s great judgment to use it on broadcast. Not like the alumni won’t know it regardless.

As a GT alum, this is just what we call it, actually. So not ABC here, but they could have contextualized.

And one other way I’ve been thinking about it: even if it doesn’t all go as badly as we think, it sure as hell won’t hurt us to prepare for the worst just in case.
