I agree and if you base your decision on how a QB performs in the playoffs it wasn't a grave mistake not to try and sign him. The bigger mistake was probably not putting the franchise tag on him.

It makes total sense. It's only a literal move in title. Shanahan calls all the plays. It's a promotion and a chance to make his mark in the NFL and a chance to work with a franchise QB.
