If it makes you feel any better, the Canadian education system, in what is in theory a bilingual country, is shockingly bad at producing actually existing bilingualism or even competence in L2.

I effectively don’t know any of my extended family due to “just move” lol, I don’t think most people look forward to the prospect of doing something extremely stressful (moving) into an unfamiliar place with no support network!

I’ve “just move”d quite a few times (every 4 years as a kid) and it destroys your ability to maintain long term relationships, this was especially true before social media but it’s still extremely hard. There’s a reason academics often tire of the “just move” cycle every 2-3 years!

Or biked, as I suggested. But they felt it was too scary to ride, which, ok. But why not take the Q to the 7? It just struck me as wild.

I think at that point you need multiple zones such that you incur a charge crossing the boundaries between them. Really discourage people from driving from Yorkville to LIC (I knew someone regularly doing this).

The terrifying possible fallout is people realizing they can elect a municipal government more concerned about the needs of tenants than of landlords, lol. It’s a similar dynamic with all the car owners voting Cuomo.
