Well, it *is* clear what criteria was used. Trump said it himself. "They happen to be white."
A thing to keep in mind here: typically, being vetted for U.S. refugee status (which he critiques here) takes literal *years.*
The Afrikaners arriving today have, presumably, only been vetted since February.

Q: There are many people who fit the criteria of fleeing persecution. Afghans for example. But they're being denied refugee status. So why such an exception for the Afrikaners?
