Enjoying National Vinyl Record Day right...

There's no better way to start the morning than with a Ryo Fukui record.

ChatGPT didn't unravel the academic project, universities did. For decades, they've prioritized sports programs at the expense of academics. How can we expect students to care about their essays or critical thinking when the U spends 100x more on a stadium than a library?

ChatGPT has unraveled the entire academic project.

Just a reminder, since clearly we still need it...

"If you're unhappy, you're wrong." is never a winning message.

"Here's the data to prove it." makes it worse, not better.

What’s Wrong With the Economy? It’s You, Not the Data
Many Americans believe that the economy and their finances are worse than they really are.

Having turned off cable news since the election, I just finished Byung Chul Han's "Vita Contemplativa".

This moment may seem to cry out for action and more action. Perhaps what we need is in fact more thoughtfulness, more listening, and more reflection, leading to more impactful action.

I love Bluesky and am glad to see it growing, but I'm not sure my feed now being full of political commentary is an improvement...

For another day I've turned on the news, watched about 30 seconds, turned it back off, and picked up a book instead.

Maybe this isn't such a bad habit to get into...

I wanted to share a speech I gave seven years ago, about the illusions that helped elect Trump and three ideas we could embrace to defeat his scourge.

The response of too many disappointed by last week's election isn't that we need to win hearts and minds, it's that half this country's voters are stupid/immoral and don't deserve to be listened to. That attitude is no better than Trumpism, and unlikely to help Democrats win any elections either...

Bernie Sanders with the most succinct analysis of the election I've seen yet:

"While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change."

This is 100% it. It's that simple.

This morning I invite everyone to reflect, and try to look past the easy answers. I won't deny that racism and sexism are real, but pinning this on a mass moral failing absolves us from asking the tough questions of why democratic policies and candidates aren't more popular than the alternative.

I feel like this really needs to be said.

We don't know who will win ≠ They're tied.

I know the last thing Bluesky needs is more politics, but as a former political consultant, I just have to say, I don't think this election is a "coin flip" like many keep saying. Too many commentators obsess over polling and ignore the fundamental factors that drive voting choices.

I'm blessed that I have the flexibility to work when I want. If I'm feeling productive on a Sunday afternoon, I can make the most of it, and my future self will be thanking me all week.
