By ‘trusted people’ I don’t always mean ‘people I personally know’, but more in the vein of, ‘I’ve watched this person online for a while and they’re generally honest, genuine, and good at fact-checking.’

However, with that said, if there’s something I want to delve into deeply, I will search for multiple sources, and verifications of the story via trusted people who either live nearby to said thing, or who I know do their research on things.

I typically avoid a lot of news to maintain my mental health, but in general, I sometimes read and generally have a modicum of trust for things appearing in the New York Times, or AP News.

It’s such a simple thing, but I’ve encountered so many times over the years that other people mostly did not experience this.

It’s so important, y’all. Every child requires agency to feel respected, accepted, and to grow into an adult who will respect and accept others.

Two of the biggest things that seem mostly universal are:
1) Knowing what to expect helps us cope, and the unexpected can be super hard.
2) Having or being able to exert control over our environment can help tremendously.

I found a couple of accounts over on threads that talk about autistic struggles a lot. I haven’t found anything comparable on Blue Sky yet.
