Why are northbound D72 buses turning east on K instead of continuing up Connecticut?

@wmata.com @wmatagm.bsky.social Why not stagger the D72s so there is one every few minutes, especially on this part of the route where most people are getting on downtown near Farragut and then getting off before the two D72 routes split?

Parking a bunch of police motorcycles in the middle of the road is not emergency activity. The driver of the 42 bus I was just on had to pull over, get out of the bus, and call dispatch to ask what he should do since he couldn't go through his normal route.
