this weeks visit to the campus art building, it was really interesting to see the art of classmates. one of the artists, Syd Lee, was the one who caught my attention the most with her girlhood pieces

art definitely expresses power, if an art piece is able to showcase and expression or emotion then it’s serving the power

can a picture make an argument?
i believe a picture can make an argument or it can support an argument/opinion. for example pictures can be used for evidence like proof of a situation therefore proving an argument

art does provide comfort, taking into perspective of home decor. people choose to decor their homes with art pieces like furniture or paintings to make the environment feel more comfortable

can a USB stick be a work of art?
yes, though it’s a different way of doing art it is art. in Rafael’s case the stick was encased which had art around it making it art, and even if it wasn’t encased it held art making it valuable

there’s always an emotion tied to art whether it’s the creator’s or the interpreter’s regardless someone’s experiencing an emotion so i do believe it should make you feel something if you’re experiencing an art piece

how rapidly or slowly do the meanings in a work reveal themselves to you?

as i spend more time with art, the more i’m able to analyze and make connections, so for me it takes me a while to develop an emotion

i don’t think artist intend on experience a specific emotion through their art, their art are their emotions and what other people interpret and feel is up in the air because everyone is so different
