Bad day to be a ranked team playing an unranked team 👀

I have become a person who urges friends to watch Detroiters with the same zeal as I once recommended The Wire.

This discourse immediately brought the eternal literary bad penny to mind: James “I used AI in my new book” Frey. Thought we were done with him until the NYT wrote a profile letting us know he is rich and never stopped publishing but is bitter because he’s not lauded enough.

I was in a trauma unit for almost a month after a near fatal car accident. I requested a counselor as soon as I was able and they were like “ huh, we don’t have one. Good idea!” Then they sent me the chaplain who was great and helpful but not quite what I was looking for.

Former Northern Virginian here—never will call it anything but National and doing my best to educate my fellow Oregonians that they should do the same. My lip curls if I hear the other (illegitimate IMHO) name uttered.

I am a JMU alum living in Oregon. Football is not my thing but I desperately want JMU to win.

Can’t remember which beloved local business it was that recently closed but do remember they were looking for a space downtown and the landlords were still charging 2019 prices and insisting on 5 year leases as if conditions haven’t changed.

I grew up in Manassas in the 80s and escaped to DC at every chance. Live in Portland, OR now and would never trade living in a city for the suburbs. Portland feels more approachable than DC but DC has changed dramatically since I lived there.

I often wonder why she isn’t regularly tossed from games for her behavior. I know she drips as much privilege as she does sequins but still…

I rarely comment on posts and have a negligible number of followers so am always surprised when my innocuous reply garners weird negative takes from strangers. I can only imagine what you are dealing with!

Me too. I was already disillusioned but grasped to a shred of belief in the Supreme Court. Very white middle class of me, I know!

Always puzzled and disappointed by people who don’t appear to need the money signing on to reprehensible projects. Not that doing something bad for money is excusable but at least it makes more sense!

Yes indeed! And wondering if the novel I spent the last 6 or so years writing will find a publisher in this hellscape of a literary world.

No thank you to this discourse. I would prefer we go back to being invisible to the media.

Doing my part by renewing gift subscriptions for my husband and brother! A relief to give gifts that are actually used and enjoyed and that support a great company.🥰

Also Gen Xer. I got into the Beatles while simultaneously learning about punk, hardcore, and college rock. Top 40 was my nemesis and was what most of my peers were into although everyone pretends the eighties were all The Cure and REM.
