I saw a snippet on TV a couple of days ago - the BBC explaining that they had Farage on so often because the opinion polls showed him to be so popular. They absolutely have put the cart before the horse: he’s up in the polls essentially because he’s ready and able to spout daily on their channel.

I used to think that. I took my 9 month old miniature schnauzer to the local organised fireworks event. She walked around relatively unconcerned. Every year since then, and she’s now 9 years old, she’s a quivering wreck at the first sound of a bang.

Hang on a minute. I think he might be on to something here: make the display of the Union flag and the St. George’s flag so commonplace and welcomed by everybody, and you wrest the symbolism of them from the far right nationalists and racists, who then need a different, less emotive, symbol to grab.
