This is totally on me, but this anti-tenure action happening in my own state government right now was NOT on my radar. I hear that phone messages are having an effect and the bill was not voted on as planned today. I just called to dictate a message to the House Education Committee—no on HB 228.

Teaching lesson learned today: no matter how badly the white board needs cleaning, don’t use board cleaner on it right before a class unless you’re in for an adventure.

According to this years’ Spotify Wrap-Up I’m a dark and moody “musical vampire.” I also pretty much use Spotify exclusively for the music that I research…what does this say about my research? Come to my talks if you want to get angsty, I guess.

Just had a student email me to ask if they should take a piano part down an octave for an aural skills assessment to avoid voice crossing. I’m raising some thoughtful counterpointers after all!

I was pretty sure that no composer would throw me for a loop with sonata form better than Hensel did. Emilie Mayer is quickly proving me wrong.
