I don't know.

but lets hope (at least imo) that we will all have the freedom to choose what we want to do with our time, without worrying about generating an income or being competitive in that field.

imo it would be much more productive, if we stopped arguing whether agi will one day replace our jobs and start imagining a future where it does so, and then ask ourselves how to actually move cautiously into that future.

we once were really close (minus the inclusivity part)

same goes for education too, can't wait for the time when college will no longer have the pressure from the economy to educate the next workforce, and instead just become places where curious minds come together to think about cool shit without being segregated by degrees, status, exams, or money.

in general I believe that if we have the ability to do so sustainably, we should

decouple one's choice of occupation with the necessity to generate income from that occupation.

i've recently grown more frustrated that we don't have an actual in depth debate whether current ai systems create more jobs than they destroy. 

like, I wouldn't want my choice of education and resulting student debt to rely on "we've been here before, we've always found something new to do."
