You could try some of the alt clients, since they usually backport Ring Racers lighting and features. iirc the most popular one is Srb2kart-Saturn, which i also run on my server due to its improved netcode (per-client resync for example).

It comes with more qol features too :3

As for possible duplication it would cause, Bepinex will only load one copy of the plugin, chosen by the highest version number. So no worries on that front.

It would also avoid cases where user disables it in the mod list while not disabling the mod that uses it.

You might want to ship this plugin inside the folder of the mod that uses it, instead of just in /plugins.
Due to how mod manager works, it will just overwrite the file if another mod contains it - which could by accident downgrade it in case that mod contains an older build.

And i have realised i borked a regex in Fp2mm's mod updater, and the "-" in your repos name was throwing it off. I fixed it, and now auto updates for your mod should work :3
(once the update for the manager is out ^^)
