Hm, that's a lot of concerningly loud banging noises outside
glairedaggers.bsky.social
Flat note as in just dropping it down a semitone?

Not sure why battery life would be an issue?
Idk about Gamescope, frankly when I emulate stuff on the Steam Deck I tend to just download the emulators & drop into desktop mode to launch them (played plenty of Jak & Daxter w/ PCSX2 in handheld this way haha)

I'd probably just download Mesen tbh. Has a Linux version, ought to work just fine.

I never got to play it at all so I'm living vicariously through YouTubers while fantasizing about getting a group of friends together to play it

It also, of course, can simultaneously be viewed as a commentary on capitalism

Something for everyone

The thing that looks REPO look extremely fun to me is that it's brave enough to ask the question "what if there was a game about moving heavy ass furniture, except also a freaky doll with knife hands shows up sometimes"
glairedaggers.bsky.social
Very funny effect capitalism has on console games where every console iteration they gotta find random unique selling points to shove into the new console & then to justify their existence they have to force every game to implement them, & it makes the experience worse for literally everyone 👍

Man I wanna play REPO. I need ppl to play with though...

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Somewhat amusing to see ppl be like "saying flag *burning* is legal is a moot point bc they're talking about making flag *desecration* illegal, not burning specifically" only for Trump to immediately clarify that he does, in fact, mean flag burning specifically

Description makes it seem like it only works for a handful of compatible controllers, like the ProGCC v3? I guess controllers which directly support a "passthrough" cable like that

Saw a couple that were like "accepting remote workers (but you have to be located in the same city as our studio for some reason)"

Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, General Gronewold says if they are federalized, that he will advise the Title 10 commander to utilize National Guard Troops to PROTECT protesters at ICE facilities. This is the right answer.

Just noticed that the icon for the "potato" setting on my microwave is popcorn, and the icon for the "popcorn" setting is.... a potato.

Naturally.

Meanwhile in CG renders like film/TV/etc, these same lighting models are used but because they can use full raytraced reflections it's much easier to make them look right compared to games.
glairedaggers.bsky.social
This is far more realistic, but also tends to be way more obvious when the reflections in a game aren't set up right (which ends up requiring lots of manual effort on the part of artists to correct)
glairedaggers.bsky.social
Hah
PBR referring to "physically based rendering"

Basically the modern shading models employed by most game engines & games puts a high degree of emphasis on the fact that every surface is reflective, using a simple "roughness" value to distinguish between shiny vs rough surfaces.
glairedaggers.bsky.social
But in a raytraced renderer, everything kind of "just works" instead.

Now theoretically this is the gap that raytracing hardware fills, except it turns out our state of the art really isn't quite there yet so as of now that gap remains unfilled.
glairedaggers.bsky.social
It's a bit of the uncanny valley thing. The more you work to make your shading models act realistically in a game, the more obvious it is when other parts of your pipeline are breaking the laws of physics (like your reflection probes)
