So much Democrat and pundit handwringing about the shutdown as if they're in charge of the government.

They're not. The only possibilities are Trump makes things worse with Democratic approval or Trump makes things worse despite Democratic resistance. Don't bail him out.

Congratulations! This really resonates. I know many Taiwanese Americans who write in "Taiwan" on surveys or forms, particularly when "China" is offered as an option, but Taiwan isn't.

This is my chief concern about restrainers. Far too little engagement with the economic consequences of US withdrawal, not least for the US' own prosperity.

Plus, not enough on how econ interests draw the US into intl security engagements.
