It asks you if you want to use "Brave Rewards" when you first install. Just say no and you won't deal with any crypto stuff. Regarding the CEO, I don't share that person's beliefs, but the browser itself is open source and has good private defaults out of the box.

But 8 GB of RAM in all 16 series phones might be worth it for longevity if you were considering something 16 or an older model. (If someone were looking to buy/upgrade)
