These steps won't make Blender 100% secure, but they'll make it a bit more secure. Also, using the Blender installer normally makes it harder for scripts to install malicious modules on Windows because modifying Program Files requires admin privileges.

If you need to keep Blender secure right away:
- Install a firewall app and disable Blender’s internet access.
- Disable auto-run scripts.
- Only use the official extension repository, manual installation.
- Don’t install scripts from unknown sources.
- Read the script's code before installing it.

Well, in theory, a real solution covers the whole problem. This is what I said afterwards. "disabling autoruns scripts only addresses one of the attack vectors."

Yes, that's what I said. Scripts can be triggered in many ways and can also install malicious Python modules without the user noticing. Here are some other ways scripts can be triggered, but this isn't the whole list. docs.blender.org/api/current/...

I think they could implement an explicit permission model first until more advanced sandbox-type solutions are implemented. The permission model is already a widespread method on mobile platforms.

That’s not a real solution. Blender scripts can be activated in various ways, and disabling autoruns scripts only addresses one of the attack vectors.

This isn’t the first time NASA has laid off a large number of people. They did that last year as well.

I’ve lost all my custom brushes, and there’s no airbrush category. Did I get the short end of the brush stick? If you can’t part with your custom brushes, don’t upgrade.

The biggest issue, to me, is the lack of being able to set a collection as indirect lighting source, which is available in Cycles but not in EEVEE.Also, having real bevel and curvature support in shaders would have been a great help. I use workarounds for these, but they just complicate the setups.

You did a great job explaining the issue. The tariff should have at least excluded existing products.
