Now: News product and AI. Then: Tribune Publishing. Chicago Tribune. Daily Herald. Sometimes teach.
Facebook isn't "encouraging" more free speech or "pivoting" away from facts. I suspect they're forecasting that more ragebait and less moderation will provide a boost to a stagnating platform. FB DAU is flat and engagement is declining. Someone believes the way back is to set the platform on fire.

I’m really liking the WhatsApp publisher channels. The ability to compare alerts and messaging is great, too. Kudos to NYT here for the right touches.

Hey, Twitter has lost half its value, isn’t paying its bills, workers are sleeping on the floor and the platform collapses during key events — I’ll bet we can do that.
i thought Reddit CEO Steve Huffman came off bad in his interview with The Verge

this new one with NBC News is disqualifying

Reddit's unpopular changes were inspired by Elon Musk's layoffs & cost-cutting (like not paying bills) at Twitter.

I went on a quest to find out if AI is already secretly writing some of the stuff we read online. I found more than I ever imagined.

From online recipes to mattress reviews to celebrity horoscopes, human writing is fast becoming the exception on the internet, rather than the rule. My story today:
AI-written content isn’t the web’s future. It’s already here.
The web has long been full of spammy content. AI is on the verge of making it much worse.
