kushghost.bsky.social
that dude starting off his bike jumped on and got away from like ten of them lol!

pretty cool we had that court case a while back where internal documents showed fox just stacked floor to ceiling with bullshiters knowingly lying constantly to their own viewers and yet we have to somehow pretend its a legit source of news or whatever.

im old enough to remember when it was just joe lieberman. then it was just manchin and sinema. now its just schumer and jeffries. weird it keeps happening.
kushghost.bsky.social
to me seems like a similar dynamic. people understandably where afraid and wanted something done about planes flying into buildings but thats a far cry from wanting pointless expensive wars and the erosion of their own rights at home.

what i am saying is at the time i am sure its true that of the options of what to do about hcare single payer (my preference) probably polled low but however low there was a constituency pushing for it and i guarantee it polled higher than the aca at the time they created it.

its pretty much seems like a widely acknowledged view amongst the left that these types of laws and agencies are almost always used primarily against the marginalized and the left broadly. which is why the country is filled with insane violent rightwing malitias but antifa is a problem.
kushghost.bsky.social
i only bring up the aca because its an example of majorities of people wanting something done about hcare electing the “leftwing” party and getting a conservative market based alternative to universal care. its a law that had no broad popular constituency.
kushghost.bsky.social
i suspect tho the reason for their “popularity” was because there was massive campaigns to lie about them. even respectable “liberal” news was fully onboard repeating the lies. now its widely known these were catastrophic disasters. just like now it’s becoming clearer the patriot act was a mistake
kushghost.bsky.social
my sense is that americans largely aren’t aware of what politicians do and the laws they pass until its done. this explains quite a lot like why everyone was hopeful and psyched about the possibility of universal hcare with obama and instead got the aca. like the patriot act THEY did it.
kushghost.bsky.social
seems to me that 911 was used as a pretext to implement this shit but its not entirely clear that massive organizing at least protest wise would have prevented it considering occupy, anti iraq war, and blm where all the largest protests in US history and little to nothing changed
kushghost.bsky.social
its maybe true that everyone was shocked and frightened on some level but thats a different thing from a constituency of citizens specifically demanding creating dhs and the patriot act.

..i know a certain someone who also tried to “plug a bomb in everyones ass”.

love the idea that an author is like yeah ill make the beginning of this real shitty and start putting the good stuff in the middle.
kushghost.bsky.social
its all but a certainty that democrats like manchin and sinema would like join republicans and vote for some of this shit if they were still in congress!!
kushghost.bsky.social
second order of business would be to establish a committee of parliamentarians (all former republicans as a show of bipartisan compromise).
kushghost.bsky.social
unless something drastic changes with the makeup and leadership of the current democratic party IF they were somehow to get 70 senate seats the first order of business would be to increase the filibuster to 71
kushghost.bsky.social
yes thats the way it appears to me with all of these guys. perfectly willing to put other peoples identities and policies on the chopping block but never their own. easy enough for them to sacrifice principles that isn’t clear they have in the first place.
kushghost.bsky.social
a chillis where speaking to the manager gets you bone sawed.
kushghost.bsky.social
its never their identity or their policy preferences or their candidate’s that are on the chopping block which tells me everything we need to know. pretty easy for these people to compromise away principles and commitments they have never had.
kushghost.bsky.social
also didn’t the dnc state in court that they do not actually have to accept the results in their own parties primaries?
kushghost.bsky.social
i always find this framing bizarre because its like protect the aca otherwise the insurance industry killbots the law is built around will do the thing their heartless cruel programming requires them to do. a sane country would do away with the killbots entirely and just give people hcare directly.
