De rijksten

Veel miljonairs zijn ondernemer of mede-eigenaar van een bedrijf. Zeker de huishoudens met meer dan 2 miljoen euro vermogen hebben vaak een ‘aanmerkelijk belang’ in een onderneming. In de rijkste huishoudens gaat het vaak om mensen die een stuk van groot oud familiebedrijf bezitten. Hierbij zitten ook mazzelaars die rijk geboren werden.

Rijk worden is een zaak van geduld

Het lukt maar heel weinig mensen om op jonge leeftijd rijk te worden. In het algemeen zijn vijftigplussers veel rijker dan twintigers. Geen wonder, want er is veel tijd nodig om een hypotheek af te betalen. Dit geldt ook voor wie een spaarpotje of beleggingsportefeuille tot iets groots wil laten uitgroeien.

Miljonairs beleggen meer en sparen minder dan gemiddelde huishoudens. Misschien is dit ook logisch: wie weinig geld heeft, kiest eerst voor de veiligste optie: sparen dus. Op de langere termijn zien beleggers hun geld echter veel sneller groeien dan spaarders. Niet voor niets wil De Europese Unie mensen gaan stimuleren om meer te beleggen.
