When not supporting the causes close to my heart, I enjoy knitting, traveling, reading, theater, opera, art, and nature.
As a graduate of Cal (go Bears), I’m joining our UC alumni community to safeguard @UCLA from a $1B federal attack. University of California is a global leader in research, healthcare, and one of the nation’s top public university systems. #StandUpForUC ucal.us/standupforuc

Busey Bank made our active checking account’s online login dormant. Called them to get it fixed and, after verifying credentials, they would not reinstate my login to our joint account without my husband getting on the phone and giving them permission to allow me access. What is this, the fifties?

Facing a few COLD days of another polar event, I was trying to think of something to say other than “colder than a [sorceress’s breast].”

How about colder than a summer in San Francisco? (not really COLD though)

Colder than an oligarch’s heart?

Colder than a for-profit HMO’s approval process?

When it comes to the economy and recovery, clearly half of the country did not get this message; now we are nineteen days to economic chaos (with the expectation of inexpensive eggs).

Wore a hat for the first time and last time today. I can only hope that finders of misplaced hand knits become wearers. Nice to think of someone, somewhere being kept warm after all the planning and care I put into knitting this hat. Not lost just given up for adoption. #knitting

This is finally starting to look like something—starting as a small piece with picked up stitches on twists & turns—but after a complicated beginning I will soon be embarking on miles and miles of plain stockinette. No complaints, I like a bit of complication. (Hinterm Stein‘s Soft Chains) #knitting

I am always so sad when a small business closes. This is our last pie from Lucky Moon Pies, a little bakery that our town was lucky to have for a time. During Covid they kept us fed with curbside pickup, their chicken pot pies were a nice comfort in that harsh time and the sweet treats were divine.

Happy Thanksgiving! If you are looking for a fun knitting project, try something with the pressed flowers stitch pattern. Easy to memorize, just slipping stitches creates the flowers. Mosaic knitting can be easy.

This is the cowl, designer Amy Christoffers has many more designs.

The knitting gods are kind today, my second swatch is a perfect gauge for the #HintermStein Soft Chains cardigan pattern. Trying Addi Ewenicorn needles, sadly my preferred Arne&Carlos Pryms don‘t come in US 3,5,7 sizes. This silky yarn wants to be knitted with a US 3.
