Mat and his long-lost brother, Bat. He went out one night and never came home. 💔😿 He had some fairly annoying traits - like bullying the younger cats & spraying inside, so muddling through without him hasn't been too terrible. He was rather cute, though.

The common name "mahogany" comes from the hardness and color of the wood, although the genus is not a true mahogany. The white flowers are small, clustered, and mildly scented, similar to acacia. I'm only 2/3s through this #SpeculativeFiction book by #StephenMarkley, it has proved to be a shockingly accurate prediction of the future. Published in Jan 23, it has an incredibly prescient description of megafires in Los Angeles.
