What makes you think that they distinguish submission from respect? Why is humiliation so central to their expressions of power if it was not about making sure the object of their attention knows their place?

I do think "fighting for fascism" overstates his work. Still he is a part of the machine that laid the groundwork. That Reagan "shining city on a hill" bullshit was a cobblestone on the road to the Tea Party and MAGA. Fascism is an "unintended consequence" of his efforts for conservatism.

10 months is pretty good considering the speed of diplomacy. It would have been rash to act unilaterally and too soon. The Davos speech was likely the summation of many conversations with other leaders over those months.

10 minutes after this came out there should have been a special counsel appointed and the SS should have been suspended from their protection role. It was a constitutional crisis. Such a blatant collapse of the rule of law.

It has nothing to with anything, but, coming from a non-US military tradition, nothing looks dumber to me than 1) saluting without head covering, and 2) saluting in civilian clothes. US politicians saluting While posing with a "war face" is the most un-serious and clownish image.
