The name of the executive order referenced by CMS is "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government." That's some next level doublespeak.
On the surface, this seems like a great public health initiative and it has been shown to be effective in other places. It doesn’t seem like they thought of how it could hurt people who can’t afford more expensive healthy alternatives. What about trying to bring healthy food and drink prices down?
