I know you really wanted to use this meme, but not at all what I was trying to say. Revolt all you want. Have a good one.

I hope we both win them.

Again, I apologise for being so reactive, we're both clearly passionate about this type of thing, but different people have their own ways of handling things based on their experiences and beliefs. There is a strong chance that I am picking fights that you are not willing to pick and vice-versa.
December 17, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Again, it's not like I disagree with you, I'm admittedly just irked that me trying to talk with a human was met with a very non-negotiable response, which is what I'm trying to fight for here.
December 17, 2025 at 12:40 PM
So why care about nuance only for this particular situation? Do we still call it nuance? What IS accountability if they still make a profit? That's not a "hard stance" that's a soft stance, and you can't call it otherwise.
December 17, 2025 at 12:40 PM
But you're still letting the nazi into the bar... So why does that apply differently here? The backlash clearly isn't hard enough if you're still giving them money. The same reason we're so adamant on not wanting to give JKR even a penny should be the same reason Square shouldn't recieve any either.

I'm simply trying to understand the doublestandards. This is not a personal attack.
December 17, 2025 at 12:06 PM
Like, why are people not pouring the heat onto Square Enix? They're still looking into ways of using AI. Is it okay to still support them just as a treat? After all, even playing their free demos is "letting the nazi into the bar" is it not?
December 17, 2025 at 12:06 PM
I'm not gonna be that guy, but if you want to be a "hard boundaries" type of person, then maybe you should look into everything you love. Everything that brings you comfort.
December 17, 2025 at 12:06 PM
Is that a hard boundary we should ignore? Just a soft boundary? Y'know, just as a treat.
There's people who have been fighting large companies for years, and allowing them to get away with the stuff they got away with before AI showed up to the scene is arguably how AI showed up to the scene.
December 17, 2025 at 12:06 PM
There's a lot wrong with the world and I'm too tired to become the next traitor. Look elsewhere. I mean, hell, I boycotted pokemon years ago due to my stance on big companies needing standards and not ripping people off, but look at all that support they still have.
December 17, 2025 at 12:06 PM
If you don't want to address my points despite me addressing yours, then there's clearly no conversation to be had. I've said over and over that I don't disagree, but this isn't us having a nuanced debate, this is you talking at me because you said the big loud thing that I'm not saying loud enough.
December 17, 2025 at 12:06 PM
Sorry for wasting your time.
December 17, 2025 at 11:18 AM
And this is what it looks like when we refuse to let nuance into the conversation. Larian as a studio is not our friend, no, but they're far more human than any other big studio out there. There is opportunity for conversation. To convince them, but it sounds like you just don't want any of that.
December 17, 2025 at 11:18 AM
The point isn't to say "don't tell them no", the point is if you want to use indiscriminate force no matter if it's friend or foe, then you are going to have far more foes than friends at the end of it. You will inadvertently create those foes yourself and wonder why the world leans towards evil.
December 17, 2025 at 11:05 AM
but if you actually look into his past and his history with the industry, he's WAY more passionate than he's given credit for. Man does not want crunch, man does not just fire staff to keep the "big number" staying big. He tried to honour his fallen friends and colleagues in his big GA speech.
December 17, 2025 at 11:05 AM
It might sound silly, but it's more often true than not. People who don't know Swen Vincke very well will simply look at his title of "CEO" and think "there's another one, he's the enemy",
December 17, 2025 at 11:05 AM
When a demon makes a slip up in front of other demons, they shrug their shoulders. They still have a demon on their side. When an ally who's clearly on our side slips up, we beat them mercilessly with sticks and bats, telling them we only expect perfection.
December 17, 2025 at 11:05 AM
It means that the reason we always see such vile and horrible practices persist in our world is not just because of those that nurture it, but also due to our inability to nuance our tolerance.
December 17, 2025 at 11:05 AM
"The right looks for allies. The left looks for traitors."
This was something I thought was kinda bullshit tbh. "What do you mean the progressives are the ones not looking for allies?" but it's a bit deeper than that.
December 17, 2025 at 11:05 AM
If Larian were your typical Triple A studio, I would probably say "yes", but in this case, I'm going to use something that I unfortunately learned from politics recently.
