i've always been of the mind that every so often a flappy pole should not be flappy. like make every 6th one a bollard. but don't tell anyone.

I lived in Brooklyn for 10 years. I get that. It's also not just MAGA. It's car culture and guns and plenty of other things. And it's not solely fleeing from, it's also very much running towards.

we host a max of 2 people. mostly young couples getting away from their kids for a weekend, or older couples, coming to visit their kids that live here. sometimes songwriters in town for the week.

i also think there's some nuance here. we have a guest suite as part of our home which we wouldn't be renting to long term renters as we like to have it available for friends and family to stay in, but renting it out has helped us continue to afford to live here.
